It occurred to me that each of the last three of Scott Walker's albums has ended the exact same way: with a short, somewhat more emotionally transparent, sparsely arranged song, just vocals and guitar (handled, on Climate of Hunter, by Mark Knopfler—I find this so interesting mostly because Evan Parker also played on the album). So we have "Blanket Roll Blues", "Rosary" from Tilt, and now on The Drift "A Lover Loves", all much more conventional than the preceding tracks.
I'll be playing something from The Drift, as well as tracks from Zach Hill and Mick Barr's new album, and Josephine Foster's A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, to which noted composer and blogger-critic Greg Sandow has given high praise, tomorrow from 1-3pm PST.
